Sirya’s Lattakia port registers record traffic

  In the year 2009 the performance of the port of Lattakia’s improved compared to the previous year: it serviced a greater number of vessels than in 2008, a total of 1,683.

In 2009 big amounts were allocated for the port investment plan: around 396 million Syrian pounds ($ 7.92 million), of which 390.534 million ($ 7.81 million) have been already spent.
The 2009 projects were aimed at the port infrastructures’ restructuration as well as to the development of human resources and of the central laboratory of the port.
Revenues at the Syrian port in 2009 reached 3,200 billion Syrian pounds ($ 64 million), an increase by 22% compared to 2008.
