Energy City Qatar signs deal for supply of green materials
  Posted on 4 Feb 2010
Energy City Qatar (ECQ), the Gulf’s first hydrocarbon industry hub under development, has awarded a contract to Green Concepts Corporation for providing green building materials to ECQ and its sister cities.
Green Concepts Corporation is a newly established firm specializing in the sale of Green Building materials. Green Concepts Corporation, an affiliate of GTG will be providing a variety of green materials to be used in energy cities’ buildings, ranging from rapidly renewable plant materials like bamboo, recyclable and reusable industrial and agricultural materials to renewable energy sources.
The contract was signed yesterday in Doha at ECQ offices by Engineer Hesham Al Emadi, ECQ Chief Executive Officer, and Shawki Shehadeh, Managing Director of Green Concept Corporation.
Engineer Al Emadi said “We are delighted to sign this contract. As you know ECQ is a pioneer in introducing green building concept in Qatar. We are proud in having organized a series of seminars and workshops about green buildings”.
The Managing Director of Green Concept Corporation, Shawki Shehadeh, said his company is working closely with many international manufacturers as well, covering products related to flooring, such as carpet, vinyl, raised floor, movable walls, internal and external cladding, solar panels and many others, mostly eco friendly and LEED certified products.
In his turn Engineer Ahmad Al Abdulla, ECQ Deputy CEO and Chief Technical Officer, said the contract with Green Concept Corporation to provide green materials to ECQ cities, is another proof of the company’s commitment to the environmental policies of the Government. “We are equally proud to be founding members of Qatar Green Building Council, one of the pillars of Qatar’s initiatives for improving the environment,” he said.
