Reuters reports that the Iraqi Electricity Ministry is looking for private sector partners to take stakes in new electricity plants. The offer is open to both domestic and foreign investors. Details of the potential deals were unclear, but the ministry said investors would be repaid from future electricity sales. The state has multi-billion dollar orders in place for gas turbines from both Siemens and General Electric, and they are expected to add nearly 9,000 megawatts of capacity. Improving the electricity supply is a very high priority for the country. (Source: Reuters)
