2010 Qatar Sustainability Conference to Change Qatar's Course
  Posted on 8 Mar 2010
In the last ten years, Qatar's spectacular skyline has risen from sand. Environmental responsibility was virtually ignored during its growth, but today the emirate is at the forefront of construction’s green revolution. On April 13, IFP Qatar will launch the 2010 Qatar Sustainability Conference.

The 2010 Qatar Sustainability Conference aims to raise awareness of green issues with a keynote theme of 'Energy and Water Efficiency.' Leading construction industry experts are gearing up to address three key environmental topics:

- The conception and delivery of buildings designed to minimize environmental impact
- The use of recycled and renewable materials for interior design and 'smart' technology to limit energy and water use
- Sympathetic planting and layout of external landscaped areas, leading to effective irrigation techniques and reduction in water consumption

Qatar's environmental track record is alarming (it has the highest per-capita carbon dioxide emissions and is one of the highest consumers of water in the world), but the conference might just be the turning point for a greener, cleaner future.

The 2010 Qatar Sustainability Conference will take place 13-14 April at the Doha Exhibition Center in Qatar, coinciding with Project Qatar 2010. Expect comprehensive coverage of speakers, case studies and sustainability prospects in Real magazine's April and May issues.
